Portsmouth Cathedral are proud to be hosting an eliminator round of the National 12 Bell Striking Contest.
The contest is the most prestigious event in the bellringing world, with 26 of the best ringing teams competing this year. In this eliminator round nine teams will each ring a test piece, judged by three pre-eminent bell ringers, on the day. The three teams who ring most accurately will qualify for the final, which is being held in Chilcompton in July.
It is a huge honour for the Cathedral to be chosen to host this round of the contest and it will be the first time we have done so. Having over 100 of the country’s most capable Bellringers coming to ring on our bells will present a great opportunity to hear our glorious bells at their absolute best.
The competition ringing will start at 11:30am and run until 4:00pm.
