Our volunteers have been so busy!
Picking up on Canon Jo's reflections in last weeks notices, where she thanked our volunteers for the time and effort they give to help provide a full week of Easter services, here is another look at what some volunteers have been up to...
In the pictures above you can see the Easter Lily displays as they were created by Clare and Rosemary, but other volunteers who are not normally Flower Guild volunteers also came in to provide the extra help needed to decorate the pillars in the Quire and Nave. Our flower guild is in need of new members, would you be interested in joining them?
Or perhaps the peace of cleaning brass is something you feel able to help with? Our team of Holy Dusters & Church Mice were busy leading up to Easter to help ensure the Cathedral looked it's best. This team usually meets on a Monday morning, but other times can be arranged with the Verger. During the holidays the Parish Lunch Club takes a break, but Susan was back in full force this Monday making the most of some cheese we had been donated, and providing a three course meal for our Lunch Club members, with the addition of a starter 'Broccoli & Stilton Soup'. We have two new Lunch Club volunteers Misako and Olga who are a great addition to the team! We'd be delighted to welcome more volunteers.
Another group that has a break during school holidays is Pompey Tots our toddler club that meets on Wednesday afternoons. Do speak to Canon Harriet if you'd like to know more about Pompey Tots. Our Shop volunteers, Guides & Stewards quietly man their posts throughout the year, fulfilling short regular volunteer slots every day of the week, whilst meeting and greeting visitors from near and far.
There are many more volunteer groups, if you are interested in one of these roles or want to learn more please email Rachael here or apply online.
