If you have a passion for singing, you won't want to miss our 'Come and Sing', where you can join a community of singers of all ages and levels in a wonderful setting.

Join composer and conductor Philip Stopford and the Cathedral Choir for Choral Evensong in the magnificent surroundings of Portsmouth Cathedral, with its splendid architecture and amazing acoustics. Philip will take an afternoon of rehearsals and conduct the service to include his own pieces ‘Do Not Be Afraid’, ‘O How Glorious’ and the UK premiere of the 'St Stephen Evening Canticles' (Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) commissioned by St Stephen Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth, Texas in memory of Peter Mark Scott. 

You will enjoy singing new pieces, revisiting a Stopford classic alongside the beautiful Smith Responses, meeting with your choral friends and having fun with others. Music will be available in advance of the day should you wish to do some private practice. The schedule for the day is as follows. 

Whether you are an experienced singer or a beginner, you are welcome to join us for these rewarding and enjoyable events.

  • 4:45pm - Rehearsal in Quire (with Cathedral Choir) 

  • 5:30pm - Break 

  • 5:45pm - Choral Evensong Service 

  • 7pm - Food
