Brass Rubbings Trail

  • Portsmouth Cathedral (map)

Are you looking for a fun and educational activity for your family this spring? Then you won't want to miss our Brass Rubbings Trail at Portsmouth Cathedral!

No booking required

Children and families are invited to explore and learn about the history and architecture of one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England, while also creating your own brass rubbings to take home as souvenirs.

Brass rubbing is a traditional craft that involves making impressions of brass monuments on paper using wax crayons or special metallic paper. Our specially designed points of interest will reveal our Cathedral’s hidden stories and fascinating history.

Running from the 1 to 14 April, a brass rubbing pack including the trail map, is available for only £2 each from the Cathedral Shop (open daily 10am-4pm). You can use these packs to make rubbings from the points around the cathedral, or you can take them home and use them on other surfaces.

The Brass Rubbings Trail is suitable for all ages and abilities, and it is a fun way to explore Portsmouth Cathedral in a hands on way.
