Baptisms at Portsmouth Cathedral

Baptism is a wonderful way to celebrate God’s love for us, whether it’s as a baby, a child, or an adult. Baptisms take place at 12:30pm on Sundays, or sometimes within the 10:30am communion service on a Sunday morning.

We can baptise you — or your children — if you are living in the parish (basically in Old Portsmouth) or are on the Cathedral’s Electoral Roll as being a regular worshipper. Baptisms can also normally be arranged for those who can demonstrate a connection to the Cathedral, provided the consent of the local vicar, in whose parish you live, is obtained.

The next step is for you to phone the Portsmouth Cathedral offices to make an appointment to see a member of the pastoral team in order to help you fill out the necessary booking form and to answer any questions. Once the date and time has been confirmed, you will receive a visit to deal with all of the practicalities and make arrangements for a rehearsal.
