Volunteer Sound Technician


Volunteer Opportunity


Responsible for wider aspects of sound requirements at the Cathedral including planning and operation for services, events, as well as having an overview of ongoing maintenance of our hardware.

This role is ideally suited to those with a good knowledge of professional P.A. systems and a keen interest to be involved with all technical aspects in a venue hosting daily worship, music, theatre, corporate events and more! 

Key Area of Responsibility 

  • Setup and pack-down of equipment and hardware for services and events 

  • Have an overview on maintenance of hardware including radio mics, control devices, mic stands, speakers etc. liaise with Digital Marketing Manager for any repairs required. 

  • Ensure the sound system is on and ready before services, assisting other members of the team with any queries or issues with operation.  

  • In advance with Music Dept. confirm any specific requirements for singing or music, and in liaison with Digital Marketing Manager, ensure adequate support in-place for the scheduled operator. 

  • Perform sound check and mic battery checks on every wireless mic before service or event begins 

  • Confirm any pre-recorded music required in services as required by ministry team 

  • Ensuring that all sound equipment is on and functioning before the ministry team arrives 

  • Liaise with Digital Marketing Manager and other members of the Volunteer Technical Team to ensure all services and events have technical coverage
