  • Portsmouth Cathedral (map)

Future Folk presents its first ever Cathedral Session at Portsmouth Cathedral in Old Portsmouth. A truly unique night of acoustic, folk and choir music at one of the most beautiful locations in Portsmouth!

£12

We are over the moon to be inviting the incredibly talented Maya Lane down from London.

Maya Lane is a singer-songwriter from London. She is emotionally mature beyond her years and a natural storyteller. Her pop/folk style draws influences from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Kacey Musgraves, HAIM and Joni Mitchell, while sitting her alongside artists such as Holly Humberstone and Lennon Stella. She has performed at festivals and gigs since the age of 12 and continues to perfect her live craft, performing solo or with an all female band. Maya is managed by Ferocious Talent and is signed to Stellar Songs for publishing.

"Another artist here demonstrating how much country music is coming through in Pop right now….I feel like in Country music they tell the best stories in their lyrics. And Maya does exactly that." – Mollie King, BBC Radio 1

“Enchanting vocals akin to Kacey Musgraves and HAIM.” - Wonderland

Caz Batten, lead vocalist of Waif & Stray, and an established soloist and songwriter within her own right will also be joining Maya on stage this May at the Cathedral. Having been inspired by the legendary singers and sounds of Nashville; Caz Batten has a powerhouse of a voice, pulling on the artistic style of her Country and Americana Icons.

Janet Ayers will also be joining us, not only does Janet perform regularly at spoken word events, have an extensive history in performing and vocals - she also runs Southsea community choir (who will also be joining us).
