'Cantate!'
Portsmouth Cathedral Girls' Choir and Scholars
CANTATE (Portsmouth Cathedral Youth Choir) offers girls and teenage boys the opportunity to sing as part of the daily music-making at Portsmouth’s Anglican Cathedral.
Set up in 2006, the initiative opened the way for girls and teenage boys to add their voices to choral worship both in Portsmouth Cathedral and in concerts around the Anglican Diocese. Girls aged 11-18 and teenage boys are welcome to join this versatile and exciting choir.
In addition to singing Evensong each Thursday in term time, the Choir has performed in various concert venues and been involved in the Portsmouth Cathedral’s Sing Up Chorister Outreach Programme. They have also taken part in the Portsmouth Festivities. They have also broadcast live on BBC Radio 4. In October 2008 they made their first tour to Paris and have plans to visit Salzburg in Dec 2009. The group is directed by Andrew Cleary from Portsmouth Grammar School. The choir is open to teenagers from other schools too across the city and diocese.
CANTATE SINGS 5PM CHORAL EVENSONG EVERY THURSDAY
